Incorporated
in September 1992, GMX Associates
Pte Ltd ( “Company”) is
a private limited enterprise engaged
in the marketing, distribution and
franchising of high performance window
films for applications on glass in
the automotive and architectural markets.
Prior to 1994, the Company was engaged
in the distribution and sale of conventional
window films. The Company saw tremendous
potential in a new generation of clear
solar control films that allow high
visible light transmission while rejecting
the heat. It then commissioned Singapore
Productivity and Standards Board,
then SISIR, to conduct a technology
survey and recommend the research
and development initiative required
to develop the technology and the
product. In June 1994, the Company
secured the distribution rights from
Southwall Technologies Inc. for its
patented XIR high performance solar
control films for Singapore, Malaysia
and Brunei. This product is marketed
by the Company under the trade name
V-KOOL®. Within months, Southwall
extended the territories to include
the entire South East Asia; and due
to further successes in developing
these initial markets, new territorial
rights to Middle East and North East
Asia were added by mid-1996. By 1998,
the Company had been granted worldwide
distribution rights, including the
North American market.
In 1998, the company launched the
V-KOOL Franchise, developed jointly
with Ernst & Young Consultants.
With excellent growth potential and
a drive towards innovation, the Company
was identified by the Singapore Productivity
and Standards Board (“PSB”),
a government statutory body, as a
Promising Small and Medium Enterprise
in 1999.
Through its investment arm, SISIR
International Pte Ltd, a joint venture
company between PSB and the Company,
Huper Optik International Pte Ltd,
was incorporated in the same year
to market globally a ceramic range
of mid performance, moderately dark
window films. This new series of window
films was based on a new patented
technology jointly developed with
overseas research institutes.
The Company was awarded the ISO 9002
certification in 2000 as another milestone
towards becoming a world-class organisation.
The ISO certified processing activities
ensure quality control for all products
marketed by the company.
In 2001 the company took a significant
equity stake in Southwall as a long-term
investment in a technology and a company
that has tremendous growth potential.
Into the future, the Company continues
to invest in Research and Development
programs that will spin off new proprietary
window film products to enable the
Company maintain its competitive edge
as the industry leader. |
